Fishing the Kissimmee chain of Lakes

Right on our doorstep are thousands of acres of unspoilt wilderness just waiting for you to visit - they cost nothing and provide hours of enjoyment

Lake Tohopekaliga is the 6th largest natural lake in Florida and is part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes which produces more bass over ten pounds than any other lake in the world. Also known as West Lake Toho to distinguish it from East Lake Tohopekaliga, it covers 22,700 acres, with a maximum depth of 15 feet. Roughly  12 miles by 2 miles, the lake is home to a variety of fish species include largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, chain pickerel, warmouth and bullhead catfish. Around 33,000 bass are caught here every year, so the chances of going home empty handed are remote!

Aquatic vegetation includes Maidencane,  Pickerelweed, alligator weed, American lotus (water lily), Hydrilla, spikerush, bladderwort, torpedo grass and bullrushes.

You need a fishing licence from the Game & Fishing Commission either from their website at www.state.fl.us/fwc/fishing or www.floridafisheries.com/license.html
By phone on (904) 732 1225 or their Kissimmee office on (407) 846 5300.
